Thanks to the combined advice and assistance of my good friend
Buzz, the folks at Etymotic, and
some technical guidance from Christopher Herot, I have assembled the
perfect solution for using Skype on my Tablet PC. I've been using the
Ety-Com headset for a couple of weeks now, the smallest, lightest,
clearest-sounding headset I've ever used. It works great, even with my cheapie cell phone as well as the nicer units my
wife and daughter carry around.

To get the Ety-Com working on the PC, Buzz suggested an adapter that got the earphone working but didn't connect the
micrphone. Then, after a suggestion from Chris, I order a GE Audio Hub (Model HO97950 - $9.95 online), a small device
that provides the splitter required to get the Ety-Com plugged into both the microphone and headphone inputs on my
Tablet and, as a bonus, also provides seperate mute buttons for each and a master volume control.
Now, when I Skype I have a tiny headset instead of the radio-booth headset I had been using and the entire rig,
weighing only a couple of ounces, fits into a small pocket in my computer bag.

1. Great stuff! I am convinced that this is a dynamite aggregation of great technology. I have suggested to the Etymotic folks that they look at the GE device, simplify it and then ever one who buys an Ety-Com will have this capability.
If the quality is excellent, and the price is free, and it works anywhere you have a wired or WiFi connection, then why in the world wouldn't you use it.
I will share this with the Skype folks too...
