New EverNote beta released - huge improvements for Tablet PCs!

A new beta of EverNote was released the other day and it offers huge improvements for users of the Tablet PC. Native Tablet Input Panel ink is now supported in addition to EverNote's own ink system, which now does a much better job of recognizing ink as text. Support for drag and drop from Outlook e-mails (text and images) is now available as well. Here's a complete list of new features and bug fixes:

 New Features:

  • Search: Persistence of SmartSearch keyword; SmartSearch history pull-down activated; all found keywords are now highlighted in yellow; and we now offer advanced and consistent search features throughout (AND, OR, NOT THIS, * WILDCARD, etc.)

  • Images: You can now drag-&-drop or paste text with images from Outlook email into EverNote.

  • .TXT files: You can now drag a .txt file to EverNote's tape perforation to create a full HTML note.

  • Ink notes: New ink cursor tools; new Help tips on ink tool bar; Shape Recognition button and Delete key now work on selected ink; and selected ink can now be moved by dragging within an ink note

  • Handwriting recognition: Recognized ink is now saved with notes; and you can now send recognized text in emails

  • DigiMemo ink notes: You can now drag-&-drop DigiMemo ink note files into EverNote

  • Tablet PC support: Native support of TPC ink collection and enabling of pen eraser (where available)

  • Install options: New "Add EN To Startup program group"

 Bug Fixes:
 Implemented miscellaneous bug fixes and minor changes, including:

  • Slow loading of EverNote has been fixed; EverNote now opens without delays

  • Auto-expansion and auto shape recognition for ink notes is now faster

  • Time Band now appears correctly when revealed in Maximize mode

  • Permanent note deletion from Deleted category now includes a warning prompt
